I love this game, great satire and thank you for the link you posted there.

Fuck HL

(+12)(-6)

I'm filled with rage, cool game.

(+6)(-15)

Lay off the internet for a while if it upsets you that much

(+4)(-4)

It's ok, anger may be a good catalyst for changed if directed correctly. Just to be clear I'm raging against the fascistic transphobes, fuck Hogwards Legacy.

(+3)(-3)

Also, believing you can only find transphobia online is derangely stupid, weak trolling, try harder.

(+8)(-4)

Awesome game.

(+8)(-3)

Story:

-It's bit anvilicious, but still funny and depressing at the same time.

-If I buy at least once, but refuse on subsequent dialogue choices, Team Hogwarts still gets mad and I still get pretty much the same ending as buying 0, even though the headline(s) still show up. I'm guessing the player character refunded their copies offscreen?

-The player character seems to have a disproportionately large amount of market influence if they can make or break the game's sales. By that logic, there should be a True Ending™ where they use that power to promote trans-friendly games.

UI:

-There needs to be a way to quickly exit back to the start menu if the player wants to immediately start a new run.

-Is there no way to manually save?

-If you buy the game enough times to generate headlines and then choose to start a new run, the headlines from the previous run are still on the screen. I don't know if this is intentional or not, since some games like Undertale remind players of the consequences of their previous runs.

(+11)(-4)

The answer to most of those questions is that this game is a shitpost originally made in 3 hours and slightly improved since.

I might spend more time on improving it more soon though so I might fix some of those things

Saves are automatic, I should add a message at the start explaining how it works. There's no manual save because well it's a 5 minute game

(also it's intentionally not subtle because I do not trust gamers to understand the message and I don't want to accidentally make people think the point of the game is to endorse Hogwarts Legacy)

(1 edit) (+17)(-5)

thank you so much for making this. the fact that you're getting so many HP stans riled up is proof that it worked lol (read another book, losers).
keen to see what you make next!

(+5)(-55)

I know this game is satire, but I want to say that just because someone does not agree with you, doesn't mean they are transphobic or homophobic. it just means that they have a different opinion and are expressing it in the way they believe is best. No hate at all, but not everyone is going to agree with you all the time. Especially not about such a controversial topic as this.

(+48)(-5)

oh shit I never thought about that, I guess those tweets by JK Rowling were all misunderstandings and there's a reasonable reason why she decided to call all trans people and their allies that:

I guess it was also an innocent disagreement when the TERF friends she hangs out with literally quoted Hitler in their speech and none of them even called it out or seemed to find it weird  https://twitter.com/northumbriaiww/status/1614690987145576453

This is probably just reasonable disagreements too https://www.thepinknews.com/2022/11/23/jk-rowling-libs-of-tik-tok-twitter/

Of course there's about hundreds of over things that could be used to illustrate this

(+1)(-20)

My comment doesn't change. Every one has a right to different beliefs. HOWEVER, I will say that some of her methods are overzealous. Thank you for educating me and being respectful 😅

(+8)(-2)

why don't you just go on and apply what you pretend to believe in, and respect this creator's having "a different opinion and [...] expressing it in the way they believe is best"?

(+1)(-3)

Forgive me, but I don't completely understand. What do I pretend to believe in? I have done exactly what I preached. I respected the creator's opinion while still giving mine. We are having a completely civil discussion about this topic which I personally find enjoyable and stimulating. I apologize if I've offended you in any way, your response seems a bit hostile (even if that's not the intention)

(+5)(-2)

True true, i respect all differences in opinions, the best example being when we respected Ronald Reagan's differences in political beliefs so hard he killed hundreds of thousands of people by ignoring the aids epidemic and refusing to allow anyone in the administration to even talk about it.

Politics and life are inseperable and im sorry if im being uncharitable but i have no time for this arguement. A friend of mine was recently assaulted and thrown out of a club by her hair by security for the crime of attempting to use a toilet while being trans, so dont you dare say this is about a difference of opinion, opinions lead to actions and those who voice those opinions should be called what they are, bigots, and im tired of people who telling me i shouldnt be angry when people I love are threatened.

i dont want a dialogue with you, because im going to get angry and neither of us needs that in the comments of a silly little game, but please dont tell us how were supposed to feel, because you dont have clue how it feels

(+1)(-1)

it just seemed silly to me that someone preaching "everything is valid, it's all just personal beliefs, let's all smile and agree to disagree" would actually attempt tone policing someone else.

and then, if i sounded hostile, it's probably because i was, indeed, annoyed. the position you're defending has been defended more times than there are stars in the universe (a whole fucking lot!), and in my little experience, it's more often than not proclaimed by people who have no understanding of social dynamics of power, no lived experience of discrimination, or both. i'm sorry if you caught some hostility up there.. it just gets boring to be told by randos to respect the "opinions" of a group that wants you dead.

(+26)(-5)

Sorry, but if someone doesn't agree that homosexuals and/or trans men and women are people, that's not a valid opinion.

(-20)

I agree. But there will always be pushback about this topic. The majority of the world views this as taboo due to their religion and/or personal beliefs. I can only hope that we can learn to love in harmony without being offensive and upsetting to other opinions.

(+15)(-3)

Personal beliefs shouldn't infringe on the freedom of others or harm them.

people can believe whatever they want but religion or beliefs aren't excuses for hurting people no matter what

You don't have to respect the "opinion" of people who have decided that a certain category of people doesn't deserve to exist

(1 edit) (+2)(-9)

As far as I can tell, JK Rowling's beliefs haven't infringed on anyone's freedom. And personally, I believe that you have to respect everyone, whether you agree with them or not. And finally, I would like to apologize, I engaged in a conversation I had no intention of continuing for more than a day. Please forgive me for my scattered responses ^-^

(+2)

No one said they are not. You are strawmaning people's views just as much as this "game" does.

(+4)(-2)

What, in no uncertain terms, do you think the disagreement is here? What do you think the opinions are? Lay it out for us.

(-9)

Gladly, I think there are 2 basic opinions. One is that sexuality is fixed, and the other is that it is free choice. These two opinions will always be there, once again due to religion and/or personal beliefs. As of this comment section, there are not any disagreements, so I can't give you any info on disagreements lol

(+8)(-70)

No one cares... if the game is good, then it will be bought and looking at how popular the streams of it are already, I'm betting a whole load more people care to play the game than care about upsetting a few trans people.

(+35)(-4)

wow that's so sad I guess I wasted my life...

(+4)(-56)

Hey, if you're trans, it's not much of a life to waste so I wouldn't worry too much. ;)

(+29)(-3)

haha so true you're so funny sweetie you really owned me there you're so cool do you want to be my friend

(+1)(-45)

Looking at the stats, it wouldn't be a long friendship so not really worth it. Thanks anyway.

I feel like no matter what ending I'm getting, I'm being talked down to. Not even the strawman pressuring you to buy the game, but even the "voice of reason." I don't know there's just something about this that doesn't sit right with me.

Edit: I just realized the game isn't even out yet at the time of this writing. What?

Edit 2: I think I understand it now? Sort of? I don't know, I guess because I've been drifting away from my trans I just saw the whole situation revolving Hogwarts Legacy as not that big of a deal (and I think in the grand scheme of things, it's not as big of a deal) but I'm starting to get why it is a big deal to many. It does contribute to amplifying the already loud voices of transphobes and sends a message to those that don't feel strongly that all of this trans stuff is a bunch of nonsense.

I think what didn't sit right with me about the game is that it turns this into an incredibly simple cause and effect, when things just are not like that. Buying the game won't immediately kill every trans person on the planet, but it'll hurt trans people because they see that no matter what nobody is gonna care. They can say all they want about JKR, about policies that are being put in place, rights being stripped away, but if whoever they're telling this to doesn't care and still buys it anyway they'll be discouraged and try not to fight as much until they eventually give up.

That's just my take on the matter, though. Sorry for the big text wall, there's just a lot I want to say.

(+18)(-7)

that must be so hard for you

(+4)(-6)

Yes, it's quite difficult. I will go cry myself to sleep now.

(+17)(-4)

I saw your edit and, idk I'd summarise things by saying it's a satire game and not meant to be completely taken seriously. Obviously buying the game won't literally translate to an anti-trans bill appearing, but keeping her relevant and engaging with HP does help her keep having influence and as queen of terfs she definitely has an impact on how popular anti-trans legislation and hate crimes etc are getting.

Showing the news headlines appear as you play is just a way to exaggerate it to a comical effect to make cis people think about the two things together

Now whether it's better to do that or to ignore the game completely, I have no idea. It's a game we can rarely win when we have no power.

(+1)

take this energy to lego and book stores and universal or are those targets too hard

(+11)(-10)

The visceral eyeroll I had just seeing the name Blaire... Respectability politics is a hell of a drug.

(+8)(-48)

What can I say? People enjoy a well-made game, regardless of politics associated with it.

(+10)(-5)

people are buying this one for hype, not for how well-made it is. elden ring beats it any day of the week

(-3)

elden ring was not well made, has all the same issues from dark souls 1

(+18)(-4)

This is absolutely phenemonal.

Sheer perfection

(+20)(-6)

thank you.

though this a parody game it sheds light on some actual things that are happening to trans people.

greatly done.

(-2)

their imaginations running wild and attacking them

(+13)(-6)

Finally some content

(+19)(-6)

Thank you for making this.
